Penguatan Pendidikan Islam dan Bahasa Arab di Masyarakat Persisir Kampung Tua Tanjung Gundap

Abstract

This study aims to examine the strengthening of Islamic education and Arabic language learning in the coastal community of Kampung Tua Tanjung Gundap. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through observation and in-depth interviews. Data analysis was conducted thematically to understand the conditions, challenges, and potential for the development of Islamic education and Arabic language learning in the area. The results of the study show that Islamic education in Kampung Tua Tanjung Gundap is still carried out traditionally with a focus on memorization and recitation, while Arabic language learning is not yet structured and is limited to the introduction of letters and reading prayers. The main obstacles found include a limited number of competent teachers, a lack of learning facilities, and low public awareness of the importance of Arabic. Economic and geographical factors also limit the optimization of education. However, there is a collective spirit among the community and religious leaders to preserve the tradition of recitation. This study concludes that strengthening Islamic and Arabic education needs to be done through a contextual and participatory approach by empowering local teaching staff, developing relevant teaching materials, and actively involving the community in the education process. These efforts are expected to increase a deeper understanding of religion and strengthen the religious identity of coastal communities.
