Author Guidelines
The Journal Islamic Religious Education Research (JIRER) invites the submission of high-quality scholarly manuscripts that align with the journal’s focus on Islamic Religious Education and related disciplines. Authors are expected to follow the guidelines below when preparing and submitting their manuscripts.
- Types of Manuscripts
JIRER accepts the following types of scholarly work: Original Research Articles, Critical Literature Reviews, Case Studies, Book Reviews relevant to Islamic education, curriculum, pedagogy, or contemporary Islamic educational issues.
- Language
Manuscripts may be written in Indonesian or English. Authors are responsible for ensuring that the language is clear, concise, and free from grammatical and typographical errors.
- Manuscript Length
Original Research Articles: 5,000–8,000 words (including abstract, references, tables, and figures), Literature or Book Reviews: 3,000–5,000 words.
- Formatting
Use Book Antiqua, size 12 pt, and single spacing. The title should be concise and informative, not exceeding 15 words. The abstract must be written in both English and Indonesian, containing 150–250 words, followed by 3–5 keywords. Standard structure: Introduction (problem, literature Review), Methodology, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, References (Structure may be adjusted depending on the type and nature of the manuscript).
- Tables and Figures
Tables and Figures should be numbered consecutively and include clear, descriptive titles. If adapted from other sources, proper citation is required.
- Citation Style
Citation Style: JIRER uses the APA (American Psychological Association (APA) 6/7th style edition), latest edition.
- Submission Process
Manuscripts must be submitted through the online journal management system provided by JIRER.
Authors must create an account and follow the step-by-step instructions for submission.
A signed declaration of originality must be attached, stating that the manuscript has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
- Review Process
All submitted manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer review process. Authors will receive constructive feedback from reviewers and must revise the manuscript accordingly. The review process typically takes 1–3 weeks.
- Publication Ethics
Authors are expected to adhere to the journal’s ethical policies, which include:

Proper citation of sources
Avoidance of plagiarism
Transparency in research methods and data
- Publication Fees
JIRER does not charge any Article Processing Charges (APCs) or submission fees.
The journal is fully open access and free of charge for both authors and readers.
- Copyright and Licensing
Authors retain copyright of their articles.
By submitting to JIRER, authors grant the journal the right to publish and distribute the article under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license.
