Peer Review Process

The Journal Islamic Religious Education Research (JIRER) implements a rigorous and transparent peer-review process to ensure the academic quality, originality, and scholarly contribution of each published article. This process is conducted under a double-blind review system to maintain confidentiality and impartiality.

Peer-Review Process Stages

  1. Manuscript Submission

Authors must submit their manuscripts through JIRER's online submission system.

All submissions are checked for completeness and adherence to submission guidelines.

  1. Initial Screening by the Editor

The editorial team conducts an initial evaluation to determine whether the manuscript:

Fits within the journal’s scope and focus,

Meets formatting requirements, and

Adheres to ethical publishing standards.

Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be returned for revision or rejected.

  1. Assignment of Reviewers

Manuscripts passing the initial screening are assigned to two or more expert reviewers with relevant academic expertise.

A double-blind review approach is maintained: both the reviewers and authors remain anonymous to each other throughout the process.

  1. Peer Review

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on several key aspects, including: Originality and novelty of the topic, Relevance to Islamic Religious Education, Clarity and soundness of methodology, Depth of analysis and argumentation, Contribution to the field.

Review outcomes will result in one of the following decisions:

Accepted without revision

Accepted with minor revisions

Accepted with major revisions

Rejected

  1. Decision and Revision

Based on reviewers’ feedback, the editor communicates the decision to the author.

If revisions are needed, the author is given a deadline to submit the revised version.

Revised manuscripts may be re-reviewed by the same reviewers to ensure that all concerns have been adequately addressed.

  1. Final Decision

The editor-in-chief makes the final decision based on the reviewers’ recommendations and the quality of any revisions submitted.

The manuscript may be accepted for publication or rejected at this stage.

  1. Publication

Accepted manuscripts are scheduled for publication in the appropriate issue of JIRER and prepared for final layout and copyediting.

Ethical Standards in Peer Review

JIRER upholds the highest standards of ethics in its peer-review process, ensuring that:

All reviews are conducted with objectivity, fairness, and confidentiality.

Reviewers and editors must declare any potential conflicts of interest and are expected to recuse themselves where appropriate.

Manuscripts are treated as confidential documents and may not be used for personal or academic advantage.
