Abstract

Pesantren continue to play an important role in maintaining and instilling spiritual and moral values in society amidst the development of educational modernization marked by technological advances, curriculum changes, and practical approaches. Pesantren, as a traditional Islamic educational institution, serves not only as a place to learn religion but also as a place to build the character and morals of santri. This is a research on the role of pesantren in national education, both instrumentally, religiously, and as a driver of social mobilization. This article examines how pesantren can internalize Islamic values through daily practices, worship, and examples of kyai and ustadz. This is done through a qualitative approach with a literature study method. In addition, pesantren face the challenge of modernization that requires them to adapt to the changing times while maintaining their traditional identity. To remain relevant, pesantrens seek to learn deep Islamic values, strengthen character, and use technology in proselytizing. Thus, pesantren not only help maintain the teachings of Islam, but also serve as a comprehensive and contextualized model of education to meet the needs of the times
