Abstract

The main problem in this activity is the increasing volume of plastic waste in the school environment that has not been managed optimally, as well as the low level of understanding and creativity among students in utilizing waste as a learning medium. Based on these issues, this community service research aims to answer the question of how the utilization of plastic waste based on the 3R principle (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) can increase students' creativity and environmental awareness at SDN Kroyo. The method used is a descriptive qualitative design with a participatory approach, involving 49 fifth and sixth grade students as subjects of the activity. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation during the implementation of waste management socialization and training in making crafts from used plastic bottles in the form of piggy banks, flower pots, and vases.

Data analysis was conducted thematically through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the activity showed that students had an increased understanding of the differences between organic and inorganic waste, especially plastic waste, and demonstrated development in creativity and fine motor skills through the process of making crafts. In addition, this activity encouraged the formation of an environmentally conscious attitude, as reflected in the students' ability to process plastic waste into useful and aesthetically pleasing products, as well as contributing to the creation of a cleaner, tidier, and more environmentally conscious school environment.
