Al-Furqon: Journal of Islamic Economics, Management and Finance is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publication. All submitted manuscripts must be original works and free from plagiarism.
1. Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
- Copying text, ideas, data, or images from other sources without proper citation.
- Presenting someone else’s work as one’s own.
- Self-plagiarism (reusing one’s previously published work without proper acknowledgment).
- Improper paraphrasing without attribution.
2. Plagiarism Screening
All manuscripts submitted to the journal will be screened using plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin or similar tools.
- The acceptable similarity index is maximum 20% (excluding references and quotations).
- Manuscripts exceeding this threshold will be returned to authors for revision or rejected.
3. Types of Plagiarism
- Minor Plagiarism: Small portions of copied text without proper citation → Author will be asked to revise.
- Moderate Plagiarism: Significant overlap → Manuscript may be rejected.
- Severe Plagiarism: Extensive copying or duplication → Immediate rejection and potential blacklisting.
4. Author Responsibilities
Authors must:
- Ensure originality of their work.
- Properly cite all sources.
- Use quotation marks for direct citations.
- Avoid duplicate submission to other journals.
5. Editorial Actions
If plagiarism is detected:
- Before publication: Manuscript will be rejected or returned for correction.
- After publication: Article may be retracted and a retraction notice will be issued.
6. Ethical Compliance
The journal follows publication ethics guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to handle plagiarism cases fairly and transparently.
