Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of Aqidah Akhlak teachers in improving students’ understanding through the utilization of visual media in teaching Akhlak Mahmudah and Akhlak Madzmumah at MTs Assholach Kejeron. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, Aqidah Akhlak teacher, and students as the research participants. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The findings revealed that the Aqidah Akhlak teacher played significant roles as an educator, facilitator, motivator, mentor, and evaluator in optimizing the use of visual media during the learning process. The use of visual media, such as pictures, posters, and other supporting materials, successfully increased students’ attention, learning motivation, classroom participation, and understanding of Akhlak Mahmudah and Akhlak Madzmumah. Supporting factors included teachers’ creativity, students’ enthusiasm, and the availability of learning media, while the inhibiting factors were limited learning facilities and the lack of varied instructional media. Therefore, the effective utilization of visual media supported by the teacher’s active role contributes significantly to improving students’ understanding and creating a more effective learning process in Aqidah Akhlak education.
