Kaidah Amr dan Nahy dalam Ilmu Tafsir: Analisis Kaidah dan Aplikasinya dalam Penetapan Hukum Al-Qur’an

The study of amr (command) and nahy (prohibition) constitutes an essential part of uṣūl al-tafsīr (principles of Qur’ānic exegesis) because both play a direct role in determining Islamic legal rulings (aḥkām shar‘iyyah). This article systematically examines the fundamental rules related to amr and nahy as found in classical works of tafsīr and uṣūl al-fiqh. The research employs a qualitative–descriptive approach using content analysis of primary sources, particularly Qawāʿid al-Tafsīr by Khalid bin ‘Uthmān as-Sabt, along with a summarized compilation of interpretive principles serving as the main reference. The findings reveal that amr originally denotes obligation (wujūb), while nahy indicates prohibition (taḥrīm). However, both meanings may shift when accompanied by contextual indicators (qarīnah) or specific situational factors. This study concludes that a proper understanding of commands and prohibitions in the Qur’an cannot be separated from their linguistic context and the circumstances of revelation (asbāb al-nuzūl).
