Kesetaraan Gender dalam Konsep Khalifah: Studi Pemikiran Amina Wadud terhadap QS. Al-Baqarah Ayat 30 dan Relevansinya dengan Masyarakat Kontemporer

Abstract

This research will explore the meaning of the khalifah through Amina Wadud's monotheistic hermeneutical approach. Amina Wadud is known to have quite unique thoughts regarding the role of women in the public sphere. This research took the form of a literature study using qualitative methods based on Amina Wadud's monotheistic hermeneutical approach. The results of this research show that the meaning of khalifah is not limited to a certain gender, but applies universally. Every human being can become a leader and representative of God on earth according to the context or situation in society by paying attention to the individual's personal abilities. The relevance of this thought to the context of contemporary society is seen in efforts to realize gender justice and refute views that limit the role of women on the pretext of gender. This research contributes to the development of gender equality discourse in the Qur’an while encouraging a more inclusive and fair understanding.
