Dimensi Psiko-Spiritual Dan Biomedis Larangan Daging Babi: Kajian Tafsir Ilmiah Kontemporer Atas Karya Sayyid Jumaili

Abstract

The prohibition of consuming pork in the Qur’an is not merely a matter of religious law but also opens a discourse on the logical and health-related reasons behind it. This article re-examines the meaning of the prohibition by exploring scientific approaches to Qur’anic interpretation, particularly through the thoughts of Sayyid Jumaili in I‘jāz Ṭibbī fī al-Qur’ān. The focus of this study is on how biomedical and psycho-spiritual aspects are addressed within the framework of modern tafsir. Using a qualitative method based on literature review, the author analyzes Jumaili’s primary text and compares it with scientific findings from the fields of medicine, microbiology, and psychology. The results indicate that the prohibition of pork is not solely a religious injunction but is also rooted in medical concerns such as infection risks and toxicity, as well as in its effects on the balance of the human soul and conscience. This study demonstrates that a scientific interpretive approach can bridge religious teachings and modern science, making Islamic legal rulings more relevant and rational in contemporary contexts.
