INTEGRASI NILAI-NILAI ISLAM DAN KEARIFAN LOKAL MELAYU PESISIR SELAT MELAKA DALAM MATERI PEMBELAJARAN PAI

The coastal Malay communities of the Malacca Strait possess rich local wisdom shaped by historical experience, the maritime environment, and the internalization of Islamic values in social and cultural life. Values such as religiosity, politeness, deliberation, mutual cooperation, balance, and religious moderation are reflected in local traditions, customs, and cultural symbols. This study aims to analyze how Islamic values embedded in the local wisdom of the coastal Malay communities of the Malacca Strait can be integrated into Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning materials in order to create contextual, meaningful, and socially grounded instruction. This qualitative research employs a library research approach and content analysis of relevant scholarly works, particularly the studies of Zaitun (UIN Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau) on Malay ethnopedagogy and Islamic education based on local culture, as well as the research of Windayani Nurmatias on local wisdom and religious moderation in coastal societies. The findings indicate that integrating Islamic values and local wisdom into PAI materials can strengthen students’ religious character, enhance cultural identity awareness, and foster moderate and tolerant religious attitudes. This study highlights the importance of developing PAI teaching materials that are responsive to local cultural contexts as part of character education in coastal regions.
