Abstract

The crisis of teacher exemplarity is one of the fundamental problems in contemporary education, which increasingly emerges in the post-truth era  when emotional resonance and viral opinions tend to be more influential than the moral and epistemic authority of educators. This study aims to analyze the concept of the ulama who inherit the prophet (waratsat al-anbiya) as a counter-narrative framework for the crisis, by tracing its normative foundations in the Qur'an and tarbawi hadith and its relevance to the restoration of the moral authority of teachers in Indonesia. This study uses a descriptive-qualitative approach with a library research design; Primary data is sourced from verses of the Qur'an and Tarbawi hadith, while secondary data is dug up from the academic literature of Islamic education published in the last five to ten years. The analysis was carried out through data reduction, thematic categorization, and contextual interpretation. The results of the study show that the concept of the prophet's heirs offers three counter-narrative pillars to the crisis of teacher example, namely: (1) epistemic authority that rests on scientific sanad and moral responsibility, not algorithmic popularity; (2) exemplary (uswah hasanah) as a primary education method that precedes cognitive transfer and cannot be replicated by any digital content; and (3) a prophetic mandate that positions the teaching profession as worship, not just a service transaction. The conclusion of this study confirms that the revitalization of the concept of scholars who inherit the prophet can be an epistemological and ethical basis for Islamic religious education to restore public trust in teacher figures in the midst of information disruption in the post-truth era.
