Abstract

Play is a fundamental approach to supporting holistic early childhood development; however, many children in community settings have limited access to structured and educational play activities. This community service article aims to describe the implementation of the Dunia Bermain Anak (DBA) program as an educational play initiative designed to optimize children's cognitive, social-emotional, language, physical-motor, and creative development. The program was selected because it provides an accessible, child-centered learning environment that encourages active participation through meaningful play experiences. The community service employed a participatory approach involving lecturers, facilitators, parents, and children aged 2–6 years. The activities included educational games, sensory play, creative art, storytelling, music and movement, and collaborative play. Program implementation was documented through observation, participation records, and reflective evaluation. The findings indicate increased children's engagement, confidence, communication skills, creativity, and social interaction during the activities. Parents also demonstrated greater awareness of the importance of play as a medium for learning and development. This program contributes to the promotion of community-based educational play as an effective strategy for strengthening early childhood development while fostering collaboration between families and educators. In conclusion, the Dunia Bermain Anak (DBA) program represents a practical and sustainable model of community engagement that supports holistic child development through enjoyable and meaningful play experiences.
