Abstract

This study aims to describe the concepts, implementation, values, supporting and inhibiting factors, as well as the impact of applying the ecotheology theory in instilling religious moderation values in students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) in Sidoarjo Regency. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive qualitative research design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the school principals, teachers, and students. The data analysis used the interactive model by Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that ecotheology theory is understood as an integrative approach that links Islamic teachings with environmental awareness. Its implementation is carried out through integrative thematic learning, religious activities with an environmental basis, and character habituation. The religious moderation values instilled include tolerance, balance (tawazun), justice, responsibility, and social concern. The supporting factors include school policies and teachers’ roles, whereas the inhibiting factors involve limited facilities and differences in students’ backgrounds. The application of ecotheology theory positively impacts students’ attitudes and behaviors toward religious moderation.Abstract is written concisely and factually, includes the purpose of research, the method of research, the result and conclusion of research.
