Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of instilling moral values from an early age amidst the challenges of technological developments and changes in student behavior, so the formulation of the problem in this research is how to apply the storytelling method based on the story of the Prophet in learning, how effective it is in instilling moral values ​​in students, and what are the supporting and inhibiting factors. Based on this formulation, the research questions are focused on: (1) how is the planning and implementation of the storytelling method based on the story of the Prophet in class IV MI Al Ihsan Damarsi Buduran Sidoarjo; (2) how are the responses and changes in student attitudes after participating in learning; and (3) what factors influence the success of the implementation of the method. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type, with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions accompanied by triangulation to ensure the validity of the data. The results of the study show that the storytelling method based on the story of the Prophet is implemented through systematic preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages, and is proven to be able to increase the understanding and internalization of moral values ​​such as honesty, responsibility, patience, and respect for parents and teachers. Furthermore, this method increased students' interest in learning, active participation, and emotional engagement in the lesson. Key supporting factors included teacher competence in storytelling and student enthusiasm, while barriers identified included time constraints and differences in student understanding. Overall, storytelling based on the Prophet's story is effective as a learning strategy in shaping the character of elementary school students.
