Abstract

This study aims to develop and analyze the effectiveness of a Performance Management System (PMS) that integrates authentic assessment and character development in madrasahs. The research employed a qualitative approach with a multi-site case study design, utilizing observations, in-depth interviews, documentation, and analysis of authentic assessment rubrics. The findings indicate that integrating authentic assessment into the PMS enhances students’ academic performance, process skills, and character through project-based assessments, portfolios, performance tasks, and character observation. Furthermore, character development grounded in pesantren values significantly contributes to strengthening students’ discipline, responsibility, and honesty. This study produces an integrated PMS model based on pesantren values that is relevant for the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and KMA 183/184.
