Abstract

In the teaching and learning process, educators must create clear steps for students to follow. According to the Ministry of Education and Culture regulation (Permendikbud), one of the main standards in teaching is instructional planning. Instructional planning is the first step before teaching begins. It involves setting learning objectives, preparing teaching materials, selecting appropriate teaching methods, choosing suitable tools or resources, and planning how to assess student learning. These materials are created to help students acquire the knowledge, attitudes, and skills required by the competency standards. Currently, the teaching materials used are not very varied and are not based on a context-based approach. This makes it difficult for students to understand the content. Many textbooks are filled with a lot of text, which makes them less appealing for students to read. This is because the teaching materials are not designed to capture students' attention or inspire them to learn. Learning materials should include more pictures and colors to help students remember information better. Colorful teaching materials that include illustrations can make learning more interesting and effective. Educators are important in delivering the material and helping students learn well. Teaching materials must also support the educator's role in managing the learning process, providing clear explanations, and inspiring students. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method, specifically a literature review. This means gathering information about the topic by studying existing research in detail. Data is collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data is then analyzed inductively and interpretively to understand the topic in depth. Teaching materials offer real and direct experience to students, helping them understand the subject matter more easily. These materials allow educators to present content using visuals such as pictures, charts, graphs, and other models. Teaching materials help students learn more by providing various types of information and activities. They also help students solve problems, develop creativity, critical thinking, and build various skills. Well-organized teaching materials, as part of effective instructional planning, can significantly improve student understanding and make learning more efficient and successful.
